Pimpri-Chinchwad: Two Policemen From Ravet Police Station Caught Red-Handed Accepting Bribe Of ₹30,000

Two police personnel from Ravet Police Station in Pimpri-Chinchwad were caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday for allegedly demanding a bribe of ₹30,000 to avoid arresting a suspect in a criminal case.

The accused officials have been identified as Head Constable Rajshree Ravi Ghode and Assistant Police Constable Rakesh Shantaram Palande.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Satish Walke of the ACB, the complainant is a lawyer by profession. A criminal case had been registered against the lawyer's client at the Ravet Police Station, and the investigation was being handled by Ghode.

During the investigation, Ghode allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹50,000 from the complainant to ensure that the suspect was not arrested and to deliberately introduce loopholes in the chargesheet that would benefit the accused. After negotiations, the amount was settled at ₹30,000.

Following the complaint filed with the ACB on Thursday, a trap was laid on Friday. During the operation, Ghode was caught red-handed accepting the bribe at the police station itself in the presence of independent witnesses.

Regarding the matter, the process of registering a case against both accused was underway at the Ravet Police Station.
