Pune Crime: Engineering Topper Turns Thief, Steals Gold Ornaments Worth ₹4 Lakh From Jewellery Shop In Budhwar Peth (VIDEO)

A shocking incident has come to light from Pune, where an engineering topper turned into a thief and stole gold valuables from a jewellery shop near the Budhwar Peth area.

Vishrambaug Police arrested the accused from the Kolar district of Karnataka on July 16.

The accused has been identified as Likit G (23), a resident of Jangamgurjanahalli village in Kolar district, Karnataka.

According to the police, the accused stole gold ornaments from the Budhwar Peth area by entering through the bathroom window.

At midnight on July 6, the accused entered the shop situated in Budhwar Peth through the bathroom window and stole ornaments worth ₹4.74 lakh. When the shopkeeper discovered the theft the next day, he filed a complaint at the police station.

Acting on it, the police launched a search for the accused and began investigating the matter. After examining 250 CCTV cameras and conducting other technical analysis, it was found that the accused, Likit, was present in the Kolar district of Karnataka.

Senior Police Inspector Santosh Pandhare said, “During the search operation of his house with the help of local police, we seized the sandals, bag, engineering college ID card, and mobile phone used during the theft. Photos of the stolen jewellery were also recovered from his mobile.”

During interrogation, the accused revealed that he committed the theft due to financial difficulties and to buy a bike.

Further investigation is underway.
