Los Angeles horror: More than 20 people injured after vehicle drives into crowd, emergency response underway

More than 20 people were injured in the early hours of Saturday after a vehicle drove into a crowd, as per the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).

By about 4:20 AM (local time), 124 fire personnel had been deployed to 4661 (W) Santa Monica Boulevard—the site of the incident.

At least 4 victims are in a critical condition, and at least 8 are seriously injured, while 19 others are said to be "in a fair condition", according to the LAFD.

The cause of the incident is currently under investigation. Videos posted to social media show the area being cordoned off.

“There was a vehicle that had somebody lose consciousness inside the vehicle. Drove into a taco cart and ultimately ran into a large number of people who were outside of the club,” Los Angeles Fire Department Captain Adam VanGerpen said, as per a New York Post report.

“It is still unconfirmed, but we have reports that there was a gunshot wound in one of the patients. There was a patient inside the vehicle. They were able to extricate that patient. That’s still ongoing with the investigation,” he added.
