Son Of Sardaar 2 Release Postponed: Ajay Devgn’s Comedy Riot Now Hits Screens On THIS Date

Just days before it was set to storm into theatres, the release of Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur’s much-awaited comedy-drama ‘Son Of Sardaar 2’ has been officially postponed. The film, which was earlier slated for a July 25, 2025, release, will now hit cinemas worldwide on August 1, coinciding with Mrunal Thakur’s birthday.

The announcement came with a fresh poster shared by the makers that read, “Jassi Paaji and toli will see you in cinemas worldwide on 1st August 2025.”

While the producers have remained tight-lipped about the specific reason behind the shift, insiders suggest the decision was carefully timed to benefit the box office performance of another film currently dominating theatres, ‘Saiyaara’.

Starring debutant Ahaan Panday, ‘Saiyaara’ has opened to a strong ₹20 crore and continues to gain momentum with impressive word-of-mouth. Its second-day collection has already crossed ₹9 crore, and trade analysts are predicting it could easily touch the ₹40 crore mark in the coming days.

In what appears to be a smart industry move, ‘Son Of Sardaar 2’ has made way for ‘Saiyaara’ to stretch its theatrical run. A source close to the development told Pinkvilla, “It is a very well thought-out move for the betterment of the industry.” A second trailer for ‘Son Of Sardaar 2’, featuring the updated release date, is also in the works.

‘Son Of Sardaar 2’ To Clash With ‘Dhadak 2’

The film will now face off with ‘Dhadak 2’ at the box office, setting up an interesting Friday clash. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, ‘Son Of Sardaar 2’ features an ensemble cast including Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Neeru Bajwa, Chunky Panday, Deepak Dobriyal, and the late Mukul Dev, among others.

Backed by Jio Studios and Devgn Films, and co-produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, the film promises a fun-filled ride when it lands in cinemas on August 1, 2025.
