Rajasthan Floods: 6 Dead In Past 24 Hours, Schools Shut As Heavy Rains Lash Multiple Districts; VIDEO

Jaipur: Heavy to very heavy rain creates flood-like situations in parts of Rajasthan, claiming six lives due to rain-related accidents in the state in the last 24 hours.

Due to a depression over east Rajasthan, heavy rains were received in Ajmer, Pushkar, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur and Pali where rivers, drains, and dams have overflowed and many villages have lost contact with water logging in most of the areas. The capital city of Jaipur was also lashed with good rains during the last 24 hours.

The rain-related accidents claimed six lives, including a four-year child playing outside his house in Sawai Madhopur, while four girls drowned in a pond in Kishangarh, Ajmer, and three of them died.

A young man drowned in a pond in the Sursagar area of Jodhpur while a person was swept away in Dungri village in Bundi, and both were missing. At the same time, the body of a bike rider who was swept away in Tonk on Friday night was found after 15 hours.

Due to continuous rain in Ajmer, a dilapidated house collapsed in Lakhan Kotdi today (Saturday) morning. There were cracks in the house. Therefore, the family had vacated the house a day earlier.

Looking at the weather conditions, the schools remained closed in Kota, Baran, Jhalawar, Ajmer, Bundi, and Rajsamand on Saturday. Private schools remained closed in Nagaur-Pali as well.

According to the Meteorological Department, the highest rainfall of 23 cm was recorded in Nainwa of Bundi district in the last 24 hours. Apart from this, Mangaliyawas (Ajmer) recorded 19 cm, Nasirabad (Ajmer) 18 cm, Pratapgarh 16 cm, and Pisangan (Ajmer) recorded 15 cm of rainfall.

Apart from this, 1 cm to 14 cm of rainfall was recorded at many places in Alwar, Jhalawar, Bundi, Dholpur, Udaipur, Rajsamand, and Banswara. Some parts of western Rajasthan also received good rainfall. However, this spell of heavy rain is likely to take a halt during the coming week.
