VIDEO: Kanwariyas Beat CRPF Jawan In Front Of Son With Kicks & Punches At UP's Mirzapur Railway Station; 7 Detained

Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh), July 19: A shocking video has surfaced on the internet in which it can be seen that a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Jawan is being brutally thrashed by the Kanwariyas. Kanwariyas are the devotees who participate in the Kanwar Yatra. There are reports that the incident occurred in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur.

The incident was caught on camera and the video of the incident is doing rounds on social media. It can be seen in the video that around 10-12 Kanwariyas are hitting the CRPF jawan with kicks and punches allegedly in front of his young kid at the crowded railway station.

Details About The Incident

The viral video shows that the Kanwariyas who are wearing saffron attire beating the jawan in the uniform in front of the crowd at the Mirzapur Railway Station. The shocking part is that the attack occurred in front of his minor son. The video of the incident is going viral on social media and the internet users are slamming the incident.

Thrashed In Front Of Son

As per reports from The Lens, the jawan has been identified as Gautam who hails from Khutha village in Mirzapur which falls under the Mirzapur Dehat Police Station area. Gautam was waiting for the Brahmaputra Mail train and was on his way to Manipur, where the situation is tense due to the Kuki-Meitei tensions for the past two years. He was posted in the disturbed region as a CRPF personnel. He was reportedly accompanied by his minor son.

There are further reports that an argument broke out between the jawan and some of the Kanwariyas at the station. The argument soon escalated into a violent clash and the group of the Kanwariyas thrashed Gautam in full public view.

The incident was caught on camera and the video is being widely shared on social media. It can be seen in the video that the Kanwariyas kick and punch Gautam after pushing him to the ground. They then leave the spot after which Gautam's son tries to put him back on his feet. Gautam then tries to attack the Kanwariyas and fall, after which they again hit him with kicks and punches.

Police Action

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) acted quickly and detained around seven people in connection with the matter. The Government Railway Police (GRP) officer Raghvendra Singh confirmed that three people have been formally arrested so far and further investigation is underway.

The jawan is reported to have suffered serious injuries in the attack, however, his condition is out of danger.
