Work towards making India developed by 2047, Pradhan exhorts students
Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday reaffirmed India’s resolve to become a developed country by 2047 and called on every citizen, especially the youth, to contribute towards this goal.
He was speaking at the seventh convocation of IIT, Palakkad, in Kerala, where 328 graduates received their degrees. The minister urged the students to take charge of building world-class infrastructure across key sectors such as transportation, housing, medical care, education and agriculture. He stressed that technological self-reliance, innovation and a shift towards smart, technology-driven agriculture were vital for India’s growth story.
He highlighted that the global focus on climate change should motivate premier institutes like IIT-Palakkad to take the lead in advancing clean energy and sustainability solutions.
Talking about India’s growing digital public infrastructure, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a vision to make this digital ecosystem inclusive and ethical, ensuring that emerging technologies like artificial intelligence benefit society responsibly.
Pradhan added that the government wanted to ensure that India’s agricultural revolution moves towards being “techno-centric” to strengthen food security through smart solutions. He encouraged students to develop innovative ideas and cutting-edge solutions.
