Ambulance drivers fight over body at Sirsa hospital
In a shocking incident outside the postmortem house of the Sirsa Civil Hospital, two ambulance drivers fought over who would take a body. The incident, recorded on a mobile phone, has gone viral.
A man from Rajasthan had passed away in Sirsa following a cardiac arrest. After the postmortem on Friday, the family contacted an ambulance to take the body back home. However, two ambulance drivers arrived at the hospital, and that’s when the fight began over who would take the body. The family members can be seen standing beside the stretcher, saying, “We have to go far. We’re getting late. Please don’t fight. Let us go." But the drivers ignored them.
The reason behind the fight was money. The family first spoke with the drivers about the fare. One asked for Rs 4,000, and the other Rs 3,500. As the family wanted a lower price, both drivers began reducing their rates. One agreed to go for Rs 3,000, and the other further brought it down to Rs 2,500.
In the video, the drivers can be seen trying to pull the stretcher toward their ambulance, leading to a scuffle. Eventually, the frustrated family said, “We’ll find someone else. You both leave it." Later, with the help of bystanders, the drivers stopped fighting, and one driver agreed to take the body.
Dr MK Bhadu, CMO of the Civil Hospital, clarified that it was a dispute between private ambulance operators. “The family of the deceased had themselves called the private ambulances to the hospital. The matter is between them,” he said.
