An FIR was registered at the Model Town police station in Ludhiana. The accused in the case are — Daljit Singh, alias Don, of Nadala, his ASI brother Sarabjit Singh and Jai Jagat Joshi of Ludhiana. Devinderpal Singh Kang of Killigandhara village of Moga had paid them Rs 90 lakh to take his son Akashbir Kang to the US.
The accused had initially asked Kang to pay them Rs 90 lakh, but sent his son to Dubai and El Salvador instead. They then further extorted Rs 50 lakh from Kang by threatening his family.
Khaira demanded that the ASI’s brother should also be arrested immediately.
There are reports that the ASI’s brother, who is on the run, has nine FIRs registered against him. Sources in the Police Department said the brothers had amassed huge wealth, including five luxury cars — a Range Rover, Mercedes and BMW — 40 acres of land and a luxurious house from the racket in the past few years.
