Ensure 300-bed PGI satellite centre’s completion by year-end, Hamirpur MP Anurag tells officials

Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur today directed officials to ensure that the construction of the satellite centre of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research here was completed by December this year.

He expressed displeasure over the delay in the construction of the 300-bed hospital and instructed the officials that all modern facilities, including the outpatient and in-patient departments, be made available in the centre within the stipulated time.

Anurag, during a meeting in Una, asked the officials to complete the land demarcation work on priority and resolve the issue related to providing a path to local residents, a statement issued here said.

He also chaired a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee, reviewed the progress of Centrally-sponsored development schemes and instructed the officials that all development works approved under the MPLADS be completed by the year-end.

Anurag told the officials to develop the Una railway station in accordance with the Himachali art, culture and aesthetics and also revamp its entry and exit points. He also asked them to prepare a detailed proposal to make parking arrangements near the station based on the potential traffic in the next

30 years.

He instructed the officials to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) after studying the proposed four-lane highway projects in Una. The DPR must reflect on how to avoid congestion in main markets, where the bypasses were connected, and what should be the grade of roads so that accidents were minimised, he added.

The MP expressed concern over illegal and unscientific mining in Una. He said that this was corroding the wealth and revenue of the state. He directed the officials concerned to take strict action against tippers carrying more than the prescribed limit of debris and impose three-to-four times the fine if illegal goods were confiscated.

Anurag stressed the need for effective disposal of plastic waste at industrial and tourist places. He asked the officials to conduct garbage surveys and establish collection centres and submit an action plan within three months.

He said that Rs 311.28 crore had been spent on 190 projects in Una under phase 1 and 2 of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and Rs 23.26 crore on the construction of bridges. Thirty new road and bridge projects had been proposed in the third phase, he added.

Anurag also asked the district administration to ensure that private landowners provide basic facilities like toilets to migrant labourers living on rent on their premises.
