Himachal to provide quality seeds to farmers: Bittu

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is committed to uplifting the economic condition of farmers in Himachal Pradesh through a range of new initiatives, said Sunil Sharma Bittu, Political Advisor to the CM. He was addressing a gathering at a function organised under the ATMA Project today.

Bittu said the state government has declared the highest prices for crops cultivated through natural farming. The minimum support price (MSP) for maize has been fixed at Rs 40 per kilogram, wheat at Rs 60 per kilogram and turmeric at Rs 90 per kilogram. These steps, he said, are aimed at motivating farmers to shift towards eco-friendly agricultural practices.

The government is also launching programmes to provide farmers with quality seeds, affordable farming tools, and fencing facilities to protect their crops. Bittu urged farmers to take full advantage of these schemes.

He also interacted with locals, addressing several public grievances on the spot and assured to apprise the Chief Minister of unresolved issues. He announced plans for constructing water harvesting tanks and installing solar lights along village paths to enhance rural infrastructure.

The event saw the presence of ATMA project director Dr Nitin Sharma, Deputy Director Dr Rakesh Dhiman, senior official Dr. Rajesh Sharma, APMC Chairman Ajay Sharma and other local dignitaries.
