Public help sought to nab key drug peddler
Jitender Kumar, a key accused and alleged kingpin in a drug supply racket, remains at large even as the police intensify efforts to arrest him. A case (FIR No. 83/2025) was registered against him under the NDPS Act at Sadar Police Station, Hamirpur. Originally from village Mokhankhanwala near SDS College in Ferozepur, Punjab, Jitender has now gone underground.
Hamirpur SP Bhagt Singh Thakur said Jitender Kumar’s interim bail plea was rejected by the Supreme Court yesterday, following which he failed to join the investigation as directed. Earlier, the Himachal Pradesh High Court had also denied him bail, citing strong evidence presented by the police.
The SP confirmed that Jitender is untraceable and not cooperating with the investigation. Police teams are making all-out efforts to locate and arrest him.
The SP appealed to the general public to assist in locating the accused. Anyone with information is urged to inform the nearest police station. He assured that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
The public can contact the police at the following numbers: Police Station Hamirpur: 01972-224306 or 7876916805; District Control Room: 01972-224339 or 7876916814; and Toll-free emergency number: 112.
The case has drawn attention due to Jitender Kumar’s alleged central role in drug trafficking in the region. His arrest remains a top priority for the district police.
