After 16 rounds, 54 out of 55 liquor zones auctioned in Yamunanagar
In a major relief to the Excise and Taxation Department and Police Department, as many as 54 liquor zones out of the total 55 have been auctioned in Yamunanagar district. Now, only the liquor zone of Kansapur village hasn’t been auctioned.
The Excise and Taxation Department took 49 days and 16 rounds to auction the 54 liquor zones. The first round of the auction had been held on May 31 and the 16th round was held on July 18.
According to the information available, on July 18, the Excise and Taxation Department auctioned three retail liquor zones of country liquor and Indian-made foreign liquor vends in the district for excise policy year 2025-27. The auctioned liquor zones were Buria (number-1)-Buria (number-2), Mandebri road-Mandebari and Pansara-Saharanpur road (number-2, Yamunanagar). The reserve price was fixed for these three zones at Rs 18,95,40,000 and these were allotted for Rs 19,76,24,261.
The Excise and Taxation Department has carved out 55 liquor zones in the district at a total reserve price of 484.77 crore.
Contractors reportedly were not taking interest in the auction of liquor zones allegedly due to threat from miscreants.
Alok Passi, Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Yamunanagar, said that the auction of 54 liquor zones out of 55 had been completed.
