Two held with illegal weapons in Yamunanagar district
The police have arrested two motorcycle-borne miscreants with illegal weapons from near Ratauli village. Police spokesman Chamkaur Singh said the accused had been identified as Pravez of Shanti Colony and Rajat Pandit of Railway Colony in Yamunanagar.
He added that two illegal pistols and eight live cartridges were recovered from their possession. “Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal has given strict instructions to the district police to crack down on organised crime. Acting on the instructions, a team of CIA-2 arrested two bike-borne miscreants with illegal weapons,” said Chamkaur Singh.
Rakesh Kumar, in-charge of CIA-2, said they got information that two motorcycle-borne youths were roaming in the area of Ratauli village with an intention to commit some crime.
He said a team comprising ASI Ramesh Kumar, Vikas, Sushil Kumar and Deepak was formed following the tip-off. “The team laid a naka near Ratauli village. After some time, a bike was seen coming from Jagadhri side. When the riders were signalled to stop, they tried to turn back their bike, but were caught by the police,” said Rakesh Kumar.
“A country-made illegal pistol and four cartridges were recovered from Parvez and similar seizure was made from Rajat Pandit,” said Rakesh Kumar.
He said a case had been registered against the accused and they were today produced before a Jagadhri court, which sent them to three days of police remand.
Rakesh Kumar said 22 cases, including the NDPS Act, kidnapping, attempt to murder and assault, had been registered against Pravez, while four cases, including the NDPS Act and kidnapping, were registered against Rajat Pandit.
