Govt committed to infrastructure upgrade in schools, says minister
Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar has said that the state government is committed to providing world class infrastructure in government schools, and for this, there is no shortage of funds with the state government.The minister was addressing a rural gathering in Dhotian village on Saturday while inaugurating the completed development works worth Rs one crore during the last three years in the Government Elementary School, Government High School and Government Girls Senior Secondary School in the village.Bhullar, in his address, said that the state government under the guidance of Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, was concentrating on the health of the education sector in the state for the progress of the new generation. The minister claimed that the state government with its efforts made under the ‘Punjab Sikhia Kranti’ has won the hearts of the residents of the state and accused the previous governments in the state about not thinking of it.
Bhullar addressed public gatherings in Dugri, Usman, Ruriwala, Sohawa and Thathia Mahantan under the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign to make the masses aware of the drug threat. He said that the state government was determined to end the drug menace and it would be possible only with the cooperation of the public and called upon people to come forward to cooperate with the state government against elements indulging in drug trade. He said that the state government was doing its best to stop the drug supply and the addicts were being treated for free at de-addiction centres.The minister also called upon sarpanches, panches and members of the village protection committee to socially boycott the drug traders if they get bail from the courts. He said that action is being taken against persons for supporting the drug traders in any way.The residents and the representatives of the people participated in the gathering. Those present were administered an oath not to cooperate with drug traders in their respective villages.
