Rahul Bajaj on playing Bipin in the show, Tumm Se Tumm Tak

What drew you to the story?

When I first heard the concept, I was genuinely intrigued. The story felt fresh. It wasn’t just another love story. What really drew me in was how beautifully the show portrayed age-gap relationships, which are still considered a taboo in our society. That bold and sensitive take made me want to be part of it.

Age-gap relationships are rarely explored with depth and nuance on Indian television. How is it handled in the show?

You’re absolutely right—age-gap relationships are often either sensationalised or ignored. What I appreciate about Tumm Se Tumm Tak is that it doesn’t treat the age difference as a gimmick or controversy. The love story is genuine, fresh and full of emotional highs and lows. It’s a roller-coaster, and I hope viewers stay hooked and relate to it on many levels.

What sets this role apart from the characters you’ve portrayed in the past?

My character, Bipin, is quite layered. On the outside, he appears composed and controlled, but inside, he’s full of mischief and emotional complexity. He’s dominated by his father and hasn’t seen much of the world, which brings out his innocence. What sets this role apart for me is exactly that—his childish behaviour, his vulnerability. It’s different from anything I’ve played before.

How did you prepare—both emotionally and mentally—for this role?

When I auditioned for Bipin, I immediately connected with the core of the character. Once the shoot began, I started discovering more layers—how he talks, reacts, thinks. It wasn’t difficult, but his childishness definitely required a certain kind of energy. That part pushed me as an actor in a fun way.

What aspects of your character’s journey do you think the audience will connect with the most?

I think the audience will connect with Bipin’s carelessness, his innocence, and most of all, his pure efforts to win Anu. There’s something endearing about someone trying so hard with a clean heart, and I think that’ll really touch people.

Finally, what can the audience expect from Tumm Se Tumm Tak?

Expect something real, raw, and emotionally rich. It’s a story that breaks stereotypes but does it with honesty. There’s drama, emotion, love, and a lot of relatability. I truly believe the audience will find themselves somewhere in this journey.
