Janhit: Kanwar Pilgrimage Witnesses Both Devotion and Disturbances in Haridwar | ABP NEWS

The annual Kanwar Yatra from Haridwar continues with millions of devotees carrying holy Ganga water to offer at nearby Shiva temples. This sacred journey is steeped in faith, spirituality, culture, and tradition. However, alongside genuine devotees, a small number of troublemakers are creating disruptions, causing concern among organizers and authorities. Despite police efforts to maintain order, clashes have erupted during the Yatra, including incidents of stone-pelting and assaults on security personnel. Some Kanwariyas have even assaulted police when asked to follow safety guidelines, leading to several arrests. Security forces remain vigilant, ensuring smooth conduct during this massive pilgrimage. Amid these tensions, there are inspiring stories of devotion. For example, a Muslim woman named Shabnam from Ghaziabad, who has embraced Sanatan Dharma, is undertaking the Kanwar Yatra with her Hindu husband, highlighting the festival’s inclusive spirit. The authorities urge people to respect the pilgrimage’s sanctity and refrain from politicizing the event. With over 15 to 20 lakh devotees expected to pass through Delhi and NCR alone, the focus remains on ensuring safety and preserving the peaceful essence of this ancient tradition.
