Odisha teen set on fire to be airlifted to AIIMS Delhi; police launch search for 3 miscreants

The health condition of 15-year-old minor girl, who was set ablaze by miscreants in Puri on Saturday, is stable, and the Odisha government has decided to airlift her to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) -Delhi for further treatment.
According to doctors treating the victim at AIIMS-Bhubhaneswar, the victim's health condition is stable and she will be airlifted to Delhi later on Sunday for further treatment.
The health condition of a 15-year-old girl, who was set ablaze by unidentified miscreants in Odisha's Puri district, was stable on Sunday morning, and she will be airlifted to Delhi, officials said.
"The minor girl, with 70 per cent burns, is stable and she is currently on oxygen support in the ICU and is responding. We are giving fluid treatment to the patient. A team of 12 doctors and two nursing officers are looking after the patient," said Sanjay Giri, Head of Department of Burn Centre, AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
AIIMS-Bhubaneswar Executive Director Asutosh Biswas told reporters that the victim will be airlifted to Delhi in a special flight. The Odisha government and AIIMS-Bhubaneswar authorities held discussions with experts in Delhi and the victim's parents and decided to shift her to the national capital for better treatment.
Odisha police recorded the statement of the victim in presence of a magistrate as the victim was able to speak. As per preliminary probe, three motorcycle-borne youths stopped the teenager, while she was returning home after meeting a friend. According to police, the accused stopped the girl on the banks of Bhargavi River, poured an inflammable substance on her, and set her on fire. The accused fled the scene after setting the victim ablaze, police said.
Local people who noticed this doused the fire and saved the girl. She was rushed to Pipili government hospital for treatment, and was later shifted to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar.
