Bihar battle heats up as Rahul Gandhi slams Nitish-BJP govt over unemplyoment

The politics in poll-bound Bihar has intensified on the agenda of jobs with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday cornering Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the BJP coalition government, saying “they have thrown Bihar into the fire of unemployment”.

Ahead of the Assembly polls, the Congress-led INDIA bloc or Mahagathbandan has made unemployment a poll agenda in its campaign against the government. The Congress’ wing—Indian Youth Congress (IYC) organised a job fair in Patna yesterday, where large crowds of youth were seen jostling to get themselves registered to get jobs with private companies.

Citing the rush at the fair, Gandhi said, “The crowd gathered at the ‘Maharojgar Mela’ is not just a crowd; it’s a message. The youth of Bihar now wants a future shaped by employment, not empty speeches.”

He underscored that the youth of Bihar have to migrate to get employment.

“The BJP and Nitish government has thrown Bihar into the fire of unemployment. Lakhs of youth have to migrate from there for livelihood – they have to leave their villages, their families and everything behind,” he said.

In his praise to the youth of Bihar, Gandhi noted, “The youth of Bihar are hardworking, capable, and promising – they just need local and respectable employment.”

He claimed that change has begun in the state. “The Congress and the INDIA alliance have brought solutions, not just assurances,” Gandhi said.

He added the Congress-led bloc’s focus is clear. “Every youth should have the right to skills and employment. Migration should stop, and every family should be able to stay together.”
