Students head to Chandigarh, Delhi on 5-day educational trip
A group of 248 students and orphan children from PM Shri schools of the state left for an educational tour to Chandigarh, Delhi and Agra on Sunday. This group will observe the historical, cultural and educational heritage of the country during the five-day educational tour. As many as 15 teachers and district nodal officers are also accompanying the group.
The trip is being organised by Samagra Shiksha in collaboration with the Education Department. As per the spokesperson for Samagra Shiksha, the aim is to take the students out of the four walls of the classroom and connect them with experiential learning so that they can understand the country’s cultural diversity, history and national institutions through direct experience.
“The students will visit Chandigarh, where they will visit several places, including Sukhna Lake. Thereafter, they will leave for Delhi and Agra. In Delhi, the students will get a chance to see many places of national importance, including the Red Fort, India Gate, Qutab Minar and National Museum. In Agra, they will closely see the world famous historical buildings such as Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, which will become a live lesson of history and architecture for them,” said the spokesperson.
The group also includes destitute and deprived students, for whom the tour will become a medium of new experiences and self-motivation. It will conclude on July 24. PM Shri Yojana’s State Nodal Officer Ravinder Singh said it would provide new experiences to the students by giving them information about historical places, cultural heritage and important institutions. This would their knowledge, attitude and self-confidence.
Samagra Shiksha has been organising educational tours for teachers and students. Recently, 50 brilliant students of the state were sent on an educational tour to Cambodia and Singapore, which was also appreciated by the Union Education Ministry. In this way, educational tours are equipping the students of Himachal with global thinking, inclusive approach and practical knowledge.
