Advanced kidney transplant testing facility opens at DMCH

A state-of-the-art CDC (complement dependent cytotoxicity) cross match and flow crossmatch testing facility was inaugurated at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital’s Department of Pathology.

The newly introduced tests will be a breakthrough for kidney transplant patients, ensuring precise compatibility assessments and minimising the risk of organ rejection. These tests will play a pivotal role in pre-transplant evaluations, helping clinicians make informed decisions for better patient outcomes.

Giving information about the facility, Dr Bhavna Garg, Professor and Head of the Department of Pathology, highlighted the advantages of CDC and flow crossmatch tests in transplant compatibility assessments. She explained that these advanced tests offered higher accuracy by detecting even minor antibody reactions, thereby reducing the risk of transplant rejection. With faster turnaround times, they enabled quicker pre-transplant evaluations, improving patient safety by minimising post-transplant complications. Additionally, these tests enhanced organ matching, leading to better success rates for kidney transplants. Utilising cutting-edge immunological technology, the facility ensured reliable and sensitive results, reinforcing its commitment to improving transplant outcomes and patient care.
