5L kanwariyas to receive ‘Ganga jal’ containers, jute bags: CM Rekha
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday announced that the Delhi Government would distribute Ganga jal filled containers and jute bags to around 5 lakh Kanwariyas in a bid to promote environmental protection. She said the government would also increase the financial aid for Kanwar committees.
Gupta visited Kanwar camps at Punjabi Bagh (Ashok Park), Tagore Garden and Subroto Park to review the arrangements made for Kanwariyas and expressed happiness over the grand welcome being given to them in the Capital.
She added that the Kanwar Yatra was not just a religious journey but a festival, and welcoming Kanwariyas passing through or arriving in Delhi was a way to respect their devotion.
The CM expressed confidence that all arrangements made by the government would benefit the devotees and help them reach their destinations safely.
“The Delhi Government is fully committed to supporting Kanwariyas in every possible way,”
she stated.
She said 374 Kanwar committees had received financial assistance this year and all camps had been equipped with electricity, healthcare services, toilets and sanitation staff.
Welcome gates had also been installed at all Delhi borders to provide a warm reception and improved facilities for the devotees.
She said ministers and MLAs were regularly visiting the camps to interact with committee members and ensure that everything was functioning well.
“This time, people have actively participated, and the government has fully supported them,”
she added.
