Opposition to Corner Govt Over Security, Governance
The INDIA bloc, comprising 24 parties, plans to raise issues such as the Pahalgam terror attack, foreign policy concerns, electoral roll revisions in Bihar, and US President Donald Trump’s claim of brokering a ceasefire during India-Pakistan tensions. Other planned topics include alleged targeting of minorities, the delimitation exercise, and atrocities in Gaza. Congress MP Pramod Tiwari demanded the PM’s presence in the House, calling Parliament more important than overseas visits.
Bloc Strategy, Judicial Concerns in Focus
Top opposition leaders, including Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi, participated in a virtual strategy meet. AAP skipped the meeting after quitting the bloc. The opposition is also preparing to highlight two judicial issues: possible impeachment motions against Justices Yashwant Varma and Shekhar Yadav. An in-person INDIA bloc meeting is scheduled for August to boost coordination. The session is expected to see high-stakes political and legislative agendas.
