Income Tax Department is preparing to give big relief to taxpayers, no need to file ITR for TDS refund
Refund can be obtained by filling just one form. The Parliamentary Committee reviewing the Income Tax Act 2025 has suggested this, which has also been accepted by the government. Now the requirement of filing Income Tax Return (ITR) only for TDS refund may end.
TDS Refund: Small taxpayers may get a big relief soon. Now the requirement to file Income Tax Return (ITR) only for TDS refund may end. Instead, refund can be obtained by filling just one form. The Parliamentary Committee reviewing the Income Tax Act 2025 has suggested this, which has also been accepted by the government. According to reports, the committee has recommended to the government that such taxpayers, who do not fall under the tax bracket, but from whom TDS has been collected, should be exempted from filing ITR only to claim refund. In such cases, to give relief to the taxpayer, there should be a provision to fill only a simple form, so that refund can be claimed easily.
Government accepted the recommendation: It is being told that the government has accepted this recommendation and this provision will be included as an amendment in the Income Tax Act-2025. CBDT has been given the responsibility to prepare a simple process or form for such people who are below the tax limit and who only have to claim TDS refund.
This is how the new system will work: It is being told that now a simple form will be introduced in place of ITR. It will be prepared on the basis of TDS data appearing in Form-26AS. The taxpayer can get his refund from the department by just filling the new claim form on the basis of Form-26AS.
Under the new tax regime, if the annual salary is up to ₹ 12.75 lakh and the person has submitted the necessary tax documents, then he does not have to pay tax. Many times it happens that the bank or employer deducts TDS if the documents are not received. In such a situation, people have to file ITR for refund, even though their income is less than the taxable limit.
