Bhopal's Famous Gufa Mandir Hosts ‘Sawan Mela’ To Celebrate Lord Shiva’s Holy Month & His Bhakts’ Devotion; Check Details

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Every year, Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal becomes a center of devotion and celebration during the holy month of Shravan, with Gufa Mandir hosting the most vibrant fair of the year called as 'Sawan Mela.'

Each year in the month of Shravan, Gufa Mandir hosts this grand fair on Mondays, attracting thousands of devotees from all over the state.

Gufa Mandir encapsulates 7 small caves, each one housing a sacred Shivling. These caves are believed to be from the 11th century, however, they were discovered in 1948.

These caves were officially developed into a temple nearly 76 years ago. Since then, they have continued to be a place of deep faith and spiritual connection.

Nature itself performs ‘Jalabhishek’ here

The temple's most special feature is a natural waterfall that flows throughout the year. This nature’s stream performs ‘Jalabhishek’ automatically of the 7 Shivlings located inside the caves. This is a rare and divine phenomenon that leaves the visitors amazed.

Secondly, in order to reach the temple, a devotee must climb 71 stone steps, which is said to be a short but meaningful journey.

Even in the present, the Gufa Mandir remains a symbol of devotion.

Every year during Shravan, the temple gets filled with the chants of mantras, the scent of flowers and incense, and the faith of countless devotees who come seeking blessings and inner peace.
