Bangladesh Crash: 16 dead after China made military plane hits Dhaka school

Dhaka: The death toll in the Bangladesh aircraft crash has risen to 16 after an Air Force training aircraft crashed atop a school building this afternoon. The Air Force aircraft crashed into the Milestone School and College campus, which is located in Dhaka’s Uttara area. “An F-7 BGI training aircraft took off at 1:06 pm today and crashed into the college campus soon after,” the defence ministry statement read. According to Lima Khanam, duty officer at the Fire Service Central Control Room, the rescue team had recovered bodies.

“Our team has recovered one body. The Air Force has rescued four people with injuries and taken them away,” bdnews24 quoted Khanam.

The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed. Details regarding the pilot remain unknown. A fire official reported that the aircraft crashed with a loud explosion and was immediately engulfed in flames.

Emergency responders, including local police, firefighters, ambulances, and air force helicopters, rushed to the crash site after getting the information.

As per a teacher, several ambulances were carrying the injured persons, including children, to nearby hospitals.

“The plane fell on the gate and crashed nearby. Classes were in session when the plane crashed with students inside. The injured are being taken out one by one,” Shah Bulbul, a Milestone School and College spokesman, was quoted as saying by bdnews24.

The Dhaka Tribune reported that over 50 individuals, primarily students, were transported to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery after an accident. Their identities remain unconfirmed.
