BJD MPs Visit Balanga Burn Victim at AIIMS Delhi

New Delhi: The Biju Janata Dal MPs on Monday met the 15-year-old girl, who is struggling for her life after severe burn injuries, at AIIMS Delhi and enquired about her health condition.

On the direction of BJD President Naveen Patnaik, the delegation of BJD MPs visited AIIMS Delhi and met the victim and interacted with the attending doctors to enquire about her health condition.

They also met the family members of the victim and assured them of all possible support.

The BJD MPs have strongly condemned the incident.

Talking to media, BJD MP Dr. Sasmit Patra said that a tragic incident occurred near Balanga police station. A girl was set on fire by miscreants and is fighting for her life at AIIMS Delhi. Since the BJP government took over in Odisha, atrocities against women and girls have surged, he added.

Earlier on Sunday, the BJD leaders and supporters protested at Balanga police station, demanding the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.

The attack occurred in the Balanga area as she was returning from a friend’s house. Initially treated at Pipili’s government hospital, she was shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar and later airlifted to AIIMS Delhi on Sunday for advanced care. Her condition remains critical, according to the latest hospital bulletin.

This incident follows another tragedy in Odisha, where a 20-year-old B.Ed student from Fakir Mohan (Autonomous) College in Balasore died Monday at AIIMS Bhubaneswar after self-immolating. She had suffered 95% burns, allegedly due to inaction on her sexual harassment complaint against her college’s Head of Department, sparking statewide outrage and political backlash.
