Iran trolls Trump’s nomination for Nobel Peace Prize: ‘The person who really deserves it’...

Prime Minister Netanyahu will meet Monday with President Trump, who expressed hope for a "deal this week" between Israel and Hamas that sees hostages released from the Gaza Strip. Indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas began on July 6 in Doha, aiming to broker a ceasefire and reach an agreement on the release of hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a hilarious reaction to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nominating US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
To a question on Trump’s nomination, Ismail Baghaei, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, sarcastically quipped: “The world has been severely inverted. ‘Poor Nobel and poor peace’.
However, Baghaei said Iran believed there was someone else who deserved the prize more than anyone. “In a just and ideal world, the person who deserves this award is UN rapporteur Francesca Albanese, who considers herself a defender of the rights of the Palestinian people,” he said.
“But we are far from an ideal world, and the world has undergone a severe reversal. Today, the party that is a symbol of apartheid and accused of committing genocide considers itself to be eligible to introduce another person as a candidate for the Peace Prize. In today's world, such awards cannot be given legitimacy, and it must be said, poor Nobel and poor peace,” he added.
Baghaei was referring to Netanyahu referring Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. The Prime Minister, during his latest visit to the White House, presented Trump with a copy of a letter he said he sent to the Nobel Prize committee. “It’s nominating you for the Peace Prize, which is well-deserved. And you should get it,” Netanyahu said. Trump responded happily before thanking him. “Coming from you, in particular, this is very meaningful,” the US President said.
Trump, who has never hidden his desire to win the coveted prize, has declared he considers himself eligible for the Prize. “They will never give me a Nobel Peace Prize,” he told reporters at the White House in February. “It’s too bad. I deserve it, but they will never give it to me,” he added.
