Mohali swimmers bag laurels in state meet

Mohali swimmers have bagged laurels at the 46th Senior Punjab State Swimming Championship (boys and girls), which concluded in Ludhiana. In the women’s category, Mohali swimmers bagged 115 points, while Ludhiana remained at second spot with 33 points.

The men’s team scored 81 points to claim first position, followed by Ludhiana (42). The side won the overall championship with 196 points.

Meanwhile, in the 48th Junior Punjab State Swimming Championship, Mohali swimmers won the Girls-I category with 92 points, followed by Ludhiana (42). In the Boys-I event, Mohali (74) and Ludhiana (66) clinched top two positions. Jalandhar won the Boys-II event 62 points, while Mohali claimed second position with 55 points. Mohali won the overall championship with 232 points.

in the women’s 200m individual medley, Mohali’s Vanisha Bashambu clocked 2 minutes and 46.32 seconds (2.46.32s) to win the gold medal, followed Ekambeer Sandhu (2.53.61s) and Vanisha (3.02.67s). In the (Boys-I) 50m butterfly stroke event, Bhavya Kathuria (00.26.71s) stood first followed by Ojas Sund (00.27.27s) and Mohali’s Shaurya Thakur (00.28.05s). Mohali’s Shubhnoor Kaur (00.32.29s) won the 50 butterfly stroke (Girls-I), followed by Apurva Sharma (00.33.11s) and Jayanna Sapra (00.36.77s).

In the Boys-II 50 butterfly stroke, Iris Partap Singh (00.32.08s) bagged gold medal, while Mohali’s Trinabh Sharma (00.33.19s) and Agamjot Singh (00.34.79s) claimed second and third position. Ramanjot Kaur (00.35.77s) claimed the top position in the (Girls-II) 50m butterfly stroke event, Katana Chahal (00.36.82s), followed by Zoya Cynthia Haque (00.40.23s).

Bhavya Kathuria (00.26.71s), Ojas Sund (00.27.69s) and Mohali’s Aarav Sharma (00.27.91s) bagged medals in the men’s 50m butterfly stroke, while in the (Girls-I) 200m freestyle event, Shubhnoor (2.26.68s), Kavisha Sukhija (2.44.41s) and Mohali’s Jasleen Kaur (2.47.35s) won medals.

The men’s 4x100m relay team of Mohali comprising Ekamveer Walia, Aarav Sharma, Jujhar Singh Gill and Lakshay Jindal claimed the first position in 3.59.21s. The local women’s team Apurva Sharma, Varnika Bashambu, Vanisha Bashambu and Shubhnoor Kaur bagged the top position with a timing of 4.38.55s.
