Dr Gandhi seeks diversion of more trains through Patiala

Seeking better train connectivity between the nearby towns, Patiala MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi met Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu, and presented a request regarding the diversion of railway traffic through Patiala and adjoining areas.

During the meeting, Dr Gandhi submitted a detailed request letter urging the Ministry of Railways to increase the diversion of trains through Patiala, Dhuri and Nabha.

He emphasised the strategic importance of the route and the positive impact such diversions would have on regional connectivity, passenger convenience and local development.

Bittu acknowledged Dr Gandhi’s concerns and assured him that the Ministry is committed to acting in the best interest of the people. He promised to examine the proposal positively and take appropriate steps to enhance train connectivity through the Patiala–Dhuri–Nabha corridor. Dr Gandhi reiterated his commitment to continuously striving for improved rail infrastructure and better public service for the people of Patiala and surrounding regions.

Following poor connectivity between these towns, commuters have to take buses or use personal vehicles, which not only lead to more accidents, but also adds to the rush on roads.

“There is an urgent need for local trains to address this issue and I am hopeful the Railway Ministry will look into my demands,” the Patiala MP said.
