Criminal wanted in 30 cases held

The Panchkula Police have arrested a dreaded criminal, Goldy, who was wanted in over 30 cases, including attempted murder, robbery, arms offences, illegal mining and assault. Goldy was the mastermind behind a brutal attack on a factory owner and subsequent robbery in the Raipur Rani area. Goldy (36), a resident of Kheri village, was arrested from Sarkpur village in Raipur Rani by a team led by ACP (Crime) Arvind Kamboj and Detective Staff In-charge SI Mandeep Singh following a tip-off.

Goldy was at large since orchestrating an armed attack on Manish, a factory owner, on the night of April 1. Manish was ambushed by assailants, who smashed his car windows and attacked him with iron rods and sickles, injuring his arm. The attackers looted Rs 2 lakh before fleeing.

The police recovered a country-made pistol, a revolver and three live cartridges from Goldy. During interrogation, it was revealed that Goldy was injured in a firing incident during the Assembly elections. He is also accused of a murderous attack in Sadhaura, Yamunanagar.

He was produced in a court, which remanded to four-day police custody.
