Speaker Pathania cancels Chamba visit

In view of the continuous heavy rainfall and forecast of more bad weather over the next two days, Himachal Pradesh Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania forced to cancel his scheduled visit to Chamba slated for July 21 to 23.

An official spokesperson said the decision was taken considering the prevailing monsoon situation in Chamba and the potential risks of landslides, floods and other rain-triggered hazards.

Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure to ensure preparedness for any monsoon-related emergency, the district administration has also issued orders for government employees involved in essential and emergency duties.

Chamba Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal, invoking powers under Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, has issued directives for immediate and strict compliance. “All types of leaves granted to government employees engaged in emergency duties within Chamba district stand cancelled with immediate effect until further orders,” said Repaswal.

He further said no government employee was permitted to leave the station during this period. All officials must remain present at their respective headquarters and be available for assigned emergency duties.”

Heads of Departments (HoDs) have been instructed to closely monitor staff attendance and recall any officials currently on leave. “Leaves for such officials will remain cancelled until further notice,” added Repaswal.

These orders have been issued in the interest of public safety, disaster preparedness, and ensuring effective administrative coordination during the ongoing monsoon season. The directive will remain in force throughout Chamba district until further orders.
