Sirsa launches drainage, infrastructure works worth Rs 1.1 cr in Vishnu Garden

Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Monday announced the commencement of major infrastructure works in the Vishnu Garden area. The initiative includes the construction of a reinforced cement concrete (RCC) drain from TC Camp Corner to Guru Gobind Singh Hospital Drain in Ward No. 96, with a sanctioned cost of over Rs 1.10 crore. This is part of a broader package of developmental works covering drains, roads, sewerage and water supply in the region.

Taking to X, Sirsa wrote, “The Rajouri Garden Assembly has, for many years, faced neglect and disorder in basic amenities like water, roads and drains due to the apathy of previous governments. But now, times have changed.”

He affirmed his commitment to transforming the constituency, stating, “Now the responsibility for development rests on the shoulders of that servant whom you have chosen as your representative with trust and love.”

Highlighting past achievements, Sirsa noted that development works worth Rs 7.25 crore have already been completed under his tenure, including the laying of water pipelines, road repair and drain clearance. He pledged that these figures would only grow in the days ahead, ensuring basic infrastructure reaches every corner of Rajouri Garden.

“My goal is to build a prosperous, well-equipped and clean constituency — where our sisters do not have to travel long distances for clean water, and where broken roads and clogged drains become a thing of the past,” he added.

On the same day, Sirsa also spearheaded a massive tree plantation drive under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign as part of the ongoing Van Mahotsav celebrations. The event was held at the PBG Grounds in Delhi Ridge and saw participation from a diverse group of dignitaries, including top religious leaders and members of the Supreme Court Bar Council.

The campaign, which aims to emotionally connect people to the cause of environmental conservation by planting a tree in memory of one’s mother, has now expanded to 70 locations across Delhi.

Among the notable participants were Gyaani ji (Valmiki Mandir), Siddharth Bhardwaj ji (Kalkaji Mandir), Vinod Mishra (Birla Mandir), Dr Jyotindra M Dave and Dr Madan Mohan Pandey (Akshardham Mandir), Singh Sahib Giani Ranjit Singh ji (Bangla Sahib Gurdwara), Singh Sahib Harnam Singh Khalsa (Sheesh Ganj Sahib Gurdwara) and legal luminaries, including Vikas Singh (President, Supreme Court Bar Association), Pragya Baghel (Secretary, Bar Association) and senior advocate Alok Dhir.

Sirsa said, “From religious heads to legal luminaries, from celebrities to common citizens — people from all walks of life are coming forward voluntarily. I want to personally thank each one of them and appeal to every Delhiite to plant a sapling.”

He emphasised that the campaign is not just about environmental protection, but also about building an emotional bond with nature. “Only by coming together can we make Delhi greener and reclaim our clean air,” he said, reiterating that the initiative is in line with the government’s vision under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for sustainable and community-driven development.
