Sriganganagar: The police have arrested a woman from Gujarat for Rs 1.25 crore fraud by offering huge profits in gold investment. Superintendent of Police Gaurav Yadav said the suspect was identified as Sonal Rebari of Gandhi Dham in Gujarat, currently living in Mumbai. The police has obtained her five-day remand. — OC

Muktsar: Deputy Commissioner Abhijeet Kaplish on Monday announced that the District Red Cross Society would bear all educational and boarding expenses of Jatin (18) in his medical education. Abohar man clinches gold at Singapore meet
Abohar: Former member of the Abohar Municipal Council Boor Singh, alias Buta Singh, was on Sunday given a warm welcome on return from Singapore for his achievement in Masters Athletics. In the two-day championship organised recently by the Singapore Masters Track and Field Association (SMTFA), Boor Singh won the gold medal in the 5,000 m run in men 70-74 age category. OC
Seven child beggars rescued
Muktsar: As part of the drive to make the state beggar-free, seven children found begging in Malout were rescued, Minister Baljit Kaur said on Monday. She met the children’s parents and urged them to enrol their wards in schools. She said legal action would be taken if their children were found begging again. TNS
