WhatsApp is dropping its native Windows app that Microsoft exec called “exemplary modern Windows app”
Meta has replaced WhatsApp's native Windows 11 app with a Chromium-based web wrapper, prioritizing development ease over performance. This change, currently in beta, sacrifices the original app's lightweight design and native UI for a web-based experience. While the new version includes features like WhatsApp Channels, it consumes more RAM and offers a less integrated experience.
