Ash from Union Carbide’s toxic waste in Madhya Pradesh found contaminated with heavy metals
Tests on ash from incinerated Union Carbide waste showed heavy metals. The waste came from the 1984 Bhopal disaster. The Regional Pollution Control Board laboratory identified nickel, zinc, lead, and mercury. The ash will be placed in a special landfill cell. Gases emitted during incineration had safe levels of dioxins and furans.
