Amid Lok Sabha commotion, Shivraj Chouhan appeals to Opposition to allow discussion on farmers’ issues

Amidst the ongoing pandemonium in the Lok Sabha, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday asked Opposition members present in the House to allow him to answer questions related to farmers.

“Today the Question Hour belongs to the farmers as out of 20 questions, 11 are about them. I request the Opposition to let these queries be answered," Chouhan said.

He further said the government was ready to answer all queries. “Not only will we reply to MPs’ questions, through Parliament, we will also like to put forth the government’s policies in front of the country’s farmers," the Agriculture Minister said.

Speaker Om Birla intervened and told the opposition MPs that sloganeering and placards were not allowed inside the House. He later adjourned the House till 12 noon.

The House could not function on the first day of the session on Monday due to repeated adjournments following Opposition protests over the demand of discussion on Operation Sindoor.
