Journalist steps on missing girl’s body in Brazil river while reporting her disappearance

During what was meant to be a routine field reporting, a shocking moment unfolded in Bacabal, Brazil, when journalist Lenildo Frazao may have accidentally stepped on the body of Raissa,13, while covering her disappearance at the Mearim river, reports The Sun.

Frazao entered the water trying to demonstrate to viewers what may have happened, only to feel something beneath the surface that alarmed him.

He suddenly jumped in fear, saying he felt something brush against him underwater. He quickly retreated, telling his team it “felt like an arm” but hoped it was just a fish.

Shortly after his report on June 30, rescue teams resumed their search and found Raissa’s body in the exact location where Frazao had stood.

A post-mortem confirmed she drowned accidentally, with no signs of violence.

The community held a vigil, and her school declared three days of mourning in her memory.

Frazao had earlier warned viewers about the river’s strong currents and hidden dangers, which likely contributed to the tragedy.
