Actress Vaani Kapoor, who made her acting debut in 2013 with Shuddh Desi Romance alongside Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra, recently revealed that she was once dropped from a film because of her skin colour. The 36-year-old also shared that she faced criticism for being 'too skinny.'

'Was Told I Wasn't Milky White': Vaani Kapoor

Speaking to News 18, Vaani said, "I haven’t been told directly but information reaches via other people. A filmmaker had once said that I wasn’t fair enough to land a role. He said that I wasn’t 'milky white.' Further, when asked how she felt about the incident, Vaani said she had to accept it for what it was and remind herself that if such was the requirement of the role, she wouldn’t want to be part of a project like that.

"The feelings are completely mutual there. He can find his milky white beauty or his fair and lovely woman. I know that I can find a better filmmaker for myself. This happened ages ago. And that filmmaker wasn’t from Mumbai," added Kapoor.

Vaani also opened up about being skinny-shamed by people, adding that it still continues to happen even today, with some telling her that she is 'too skinny.'

"What I hear a lot sometimes is that I’m too skinny and that I should put on some weight because people like women with fuller bodies. But I like me! I don’t want to change anything about myself. I’m fit and healthy. I usually don’t get bothered by these things. Sometimes, you don’t know if such comments are coming from a place of concern or like a gold advice. But I think I’m pretty okay and I like who I am," concluded.
