DEVI buses will run on a new route in Yamunapar for Delhiites, will connect metro passengers
The government is going to provide a new facility for metro passengers in the capital Delhi. Work has started to connect the new EV Connector (Devi) buses with metro passengers. The work has started as a pilot project. The government plans to strengthen the last mile connectivity.
Work has been started to connect the new EV Connector (Devi) buses running on the roads of the capital with the metro passengers. Under the pilot project, new bus routes have been prepared in Yamunapar. If the pilot project is successful, it will be implemented in the whole of Delhi.
Actually, the government is emphasizing on strengthening the last mile connectivity. The government is preparing to start 145 new routes in the capital for these short 9 meter long buses. These routes have been specially designed keeping in mind the last mile connectivity and better connectivity with metro stations.
Transport department officials said that Devi buses are running on the routes of 12 meter long buses of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and cluster buses where their effectiveness has been limited. There are fewer passengers in small Devi buses as compared to big buses. The reason for this is that these buses are not able to run in those areas where they are needed the most.
In such a situation, a blueprint of 145 new routes has been prepared with the help of IIT Delhi. The government will first start the pilot project from Yamuna Vihar. After this, these routes will be implemented in the entire city in a phased manner.
These routes have been prepared in such a way that smooth connectivity can be ensured between colonies and metro stations. The department is developing not just buses but also special digital bus stops. These stops will have small digital screens which will display information like route number, bus location, arrival and departure time. This project will be implemented in collaboration with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
