3 Chandigarh judokas selected for Macau Junior Asian Cup
As many as three local judokas and one coach have been selected to represent India at the Junior Asian Cup 2025 scheduled to be held in Macau from July 24 to 27. Navroop (-57 kg), a student of MCM DAV College, Sector 36, will represent the nation.
An experienced international judoka, Navroop had represented the nation at the World Championship, Asian Championship and several other global tournaments. She clinched the 2024 Junior National Champion title in Dehradun.
Karan Pratap Singh (-66 kg), a student at Panjab University, has earned his spot for what will be his second international event. Singh won gold at the Junior National Judo Championships in 2024. Himanshu (-60 kg) has been selected for the international tournament after he won a bronze medal at the Asian Cup in Taipei, Taiwan. He is a three-time national champion in the -60 kg category.
Coach Vivek Thakur, who trains all trainees at the Sector 34 sports complex, has been selected as the coach of the Indian squad.
