Two arrested with poppy husk worth ₹11L
The Gurugram police on Monday arrested two drug smugglers red-handed while they were transporting a huge quantity of poppy husk in a truck from Udaipur to Delhi.
The police have recovered 160 kg poppy husk, worth about Rs 11 lakh, and a truck from their possession.
According to the police, the accused have been identified as Mohammad Munfed (29), a resident of Toka village in Palwal district; and Zahid (30), a resident of Kol Gaon village in Nuh district. An FIR has been registered against them at the Sadar police station here in this regard. They have been remanded in four-day police custody after being produced before a city court.
According to the police, a team of the Sector 39 crime unit, led by Sub-Inspector Mohit Man, stopped and searched a truck near Subhash Chowk on Monday based on a tip-off. During the search, poppy husk was found in the truck, and the police arrested both the accused. They were going to deliver the drugs from Udaipur, Rajasthan, to a person in Delhi.
“The accused revealed that they were supposed to get Rs 40,000 for delivering the drugs. They had previously delivered narcotics from Udaipur to Delhi once, for which they got Rs 30,000,” said a spokesperson of the Gurugram police.
