Delhi Government bets on young ideas to solve industrial problems
The Delhi Government has announced the launch of Industrial Ideathon-2025, an initiative that aims to crowdsource technical and practical solutions from college students to address real-world industrial challenges faced by the city. The ideathon is being organised by the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) under the Industries Department, GNCTD.
Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa described the initiative as a mission to position students at the centre of industrial innovation.
“Delhi’s youth has the imagination and drive we need to solve the real challenges faced by our industries. This ideathon reflects our government’s commitment to digital transformation, youth empowerment, and inclusive entrepreneurship,” said the minister.
Registrations for the event will continue until August 4. Student teams of 2-4 members from colleges and universities across Delhi are eligible to participate, with the requirement of at least one female member per team. Interested students can register via the official website, www.industrialideathondelhi.com.
The ideathon is being co-hosted by Netaji Subhash University of Technology (NSUT). The event will unfold in two key phases. The preliminary round will be held on August 13 and 14 at NSUT, where shortlisted student teams will undergo an 8-hour challenge to pitch their ideas before a jury of experts — including industry stakeholders and government officials. The top teams will move on to the grand finale, to be held on August 18-20, where final presentations and prize announcements will take place.
Participants will be asked to solve challenges in four major sectors: improving logistics and supply chain systems in Delhi’s industrial clusters; creating technology solutions to enhance ease of doing business; leveraging frontier technology to revamp industrial operations; and innovating practical support systems for the MSME sector.
Sirsa said the initiative was part of a broader strategy to make Delhi a national hub of innovation and entrepreneurship. The collaboration with NSUT was only the beginning of a long-term effort to bridge the gap between government, industry, and academia, he added.
All participants will receive official certificates, while the winning teams will be felicitated by senior Delhi Government officials at the closing ceremony. The event is expected to witness the participation of over 120 student teams representing more than 30 institutions.
