Stock Market Starts Strong: Sensex Gains 210 Points, Nifty Above 25,130
The Indian stock market opened on a positive note Wednesday, with benchmark indices extending gains amid improved investor sentiment. The BSE Sensex rose 209.88 points, or 0.26 per cent, to begin the session at 82,396.69. Similarly, the NSE Nifty advanced 76.20 points, or 0.30 per cent, to open at 25,137.10. Early trade was buoyed by firm global cues and optimism around upcoming corporate earnings. Around 160 stocks advanced, 71 declined, and 22 remained unchanged in early trade.
Among the top gainers on the Nifty were Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Shriram Finance, and Jio Financial. On the other hand, ONGC, Hero MotoCorp, Tata Steel, Tata Consumer, and Cipla were among the leading laggards.
"The 11th new record high for 2025 set by S&P 500 yesterday is an indication of the direction and resilience of equity markets globally. Markets are climbing all walls of worries, and valuation concerns have been put on the back burner. In the near term this resilience is likely to continue," V KVijaykumar, Chief Strategist at Geojit Investments Limited, said.

Sectorial Update
Dixon Technologies shares rose 2 per cent after the company announced its Q1 results. Several brokerages issued bullish calls on the stock, though Morgan Stanley maintained an underweight rating, citing a broad-based miss in the first quarter. On July 22, the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) major reported a net profit of Rs 225 crore for Q1 FY26, a 68 per cent increase from Rs 134 crore in the same quarter last year.

In the previous trading session on Tuesday, the Indian stock market closed on a subdued note, with benchmark indices posting modest losses amid volatile trading. The BSE Sensex settled at 82,186.87, down 13.47 points or 0.02 per cent. Similarly, the NSE Nifty edged lower by 24.50 points, or 0.10 per cent, to finish at 25,066.20. Market activity remained range-bound as investors stayed cautious, awaiting new signals from global economic developments and upcoming domestic earnings reports.
