Indian student hospitalised after ‘racial’ attack in Australia; wife films crime
Charanpreet Singh, a 23-year-old Indian student, was hospitalised following a violent and allegedly racially motivated attack in central Adelaide.
The incident occurred near Kintore Avenue while Singh and his wife were out to see city light display.
The incident dates back to July 19.
According to eyewitnesses and video footage, five men armed with metal knuckles or sharp objects attacked Singh without warning.
During the attack, they allegedly hurled racial slurs, shouting “F— off, Indian" before fleeing the scene. Singh was left unconscious on the road, sustaining serious injuries, including facial fractures and brain trauma, reported The Australia Today.
While speaking to 9News, Singh said: “They just said, ‘F**K off, Indian,’ and after that they just started punching." In a critical detail captured in the aftermath, Singh’s wife followed the assailants while filming the scene and managed to record the car’s registration number as they drove off “like nothing happened".
