Google's Circle To Search Gets Song History On Android: Here's How You Can Now Never Miss A Beat

Google has quietly added a useful new feature to its Circle to Search tool on Android devices. Users can now view their past song searches directly within the feature itself, a function that wasn’t available earlier. The update introduces a dedicated history icon for users who tap the music button, allowing quick access to previously identified tracks.

This makes it easier for users to revisit their searches without needing to memorise or manually note down songs. The update is rolling out gradually to Android users via the stable version of the Google app, and some users may already see it live.

Song Search History Now Built Into Circle To Search

Google has introduced a small clock icon in the top-right corner when users access the music button within Circle to Search. Tapping this icon reveals a grid-style list of recent song searches. These entries are grouped by month and show key details including album artwork, artist name, and the exact time the search was performed.

Users can tap on any of these saved results to open a standard Google Search page for that song. The current history view displays up to 10 songs for each month.

A Shortcut To Your Full Song Search Archive

Scrolling to the bottom of the new song search history interface reveals a “Show full history” button. This option redirects users to the song search section of Google’s My Activity page. While the My Activity version does not show album art or monthly groupings, it still offers access to a more comprehensive list of search activity.

Users also have the option to create a home screen shortcut for easier access, bypassing the need to launch the Google app each time.

Feature Rollout And Version Requirements

This new feature is being made available to Android users through the stable Google app version 16.27. If the option does not appear immediately, users can try force-stopping the Google app or checking for updates.

The same song search history feature was initially rolled out on iOS back in February and is now finally reaching Android users after months of testing. The update provides a convenient way to keep track of songs identified through humming, singing, or playing, all within Circle to Search.
