Pune: Cookie Man In Phoenix Mall Under Fire After Video Shows Fallen Biscuits Stored For Sale
Amidst the rising concerns over food safety in Pune after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cancelled the license of Goodluck Café and Bhiwandi Darbar after a glass shard and cockroach were found in the food, now a video is going viral showing how biscuits fallen on ground were kept below the selling counter in an eatery inside the famous Phoenix Mall in Pune.
The outlet is Cookie Man, and a video was originally posted by a user on Reddit, which was later shared on Instagram. It showed the same cookies being wrapped in a bag and stored beneath the counter, alongside other trays kept for sale.
As per the post on Reddit, Cookie Man issued an official statement there. They’ve claimed the footage is “out of context and misleading,” stating that the batch of cookies that fell on the floor was immediately weighed and discarded, in line with their strict SOP.
However, the user shared the second part of the video, which clearly shows the same batch of cookies being wrapped in a bag and stored beneath the counter, alongside other trays kept for sale.
"I’ve already shared this footage with Cookie Man’s management and requested that they release the full CCTV footage to substantiate their claims. As expected, there has been no response since yesterday. At this point, I’ll leave it to you to judge what kind of ethics this company chooses to operate with," he wrote.

Here's what FDA says
Meanwhile, talking to Free Press Journal about the incident, Suresh Annapure, Joint Commissioner, FDA, Pune Division, said,
"After the Goodluck Café incident, a lot of people have been sending me videos and asking us to take action, or asking whether any action has been taken. Firstly, we don’t function that way. Any customer or complainant must register their complaint with us officially — only then do we conduct an inspection and take appropriate action."
"We cannot take action based solely on videos, as they can be AI-generated or manipulated, and we cannot verify their authenticity. In this case, we have already taken cognizance of the issue. Also, this particular case appears to be a result of worker negligence and mishandling of food items," he added.
