BJP works for rich, farmers only get lathis, says Kejriwal in Gujarat

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal today slammed the Gujarat Government for lathicharge on dairy farmers in Sabarkantha, Gujarat.

He said, “This is not a government of the people. It is a government for billionaires. The poor and farmers only get lathis.” Flanked by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann during a mahapanchayat at Modasa in Gujarat, Kejriwal said, “When a large number of dairy farmers went to the government to demand their rights, this corrupt and cruel government unleashed ‘lathicharge’ on them. One of our brother, Ashok Chaudhary, lost his life. I spoke to CM Mann, who is the son of a farmer himself. Without any delay, we came here to stand in solidarity with you.”

While ripping into the BJP’s “arrogant and corrupt regime in the state”, CM Mann expressed concern over the lack of Opposition in Gujarat for the last 30 years.

Sharing the work done by AAP in Punjab, Mann said, “Before our government was formed, only 20 per cent of Punjab’s farmland had access to canal water for irrigation. In just three years, we’ve expanded that to 60 per cent. Farmers get eight hours of uninterrupted power supply during the daytime.”

“The Congress is hand in glove with the BJP. Had the Congress stood with farmers, there would’ve been no need for us to come here,” said Mann. He said Gujaratis had been forced to vote for the BJP due to lack of alternatives. “Now, AAP has created a new path. Just like in Punjab, AAP will form the next government in Gujarat,” he said.
