Two killed, three injured as car collides with bus in Kurukshetra

Two persons were killed while three suffered injuries in an accident involving a car and a private bus near Lohar Majra village on Kurukshetra-Pehowa road, on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Gurdev Singh (50), Kuldeep (45), residents of Sarsa village, while the injured were identified as Rohtash, Sukhdev, residents of Sarsa village and Mamta (40), a resident of Karnal. Mamta was travelling in the private bus, while the others were in the car.

The victims were rushed to Lok Nayak Jai Parkash District Civil Hospital. In the head-on collision, while Gurdev Singh and Kuldeep reportedly died on the spot, Rohtash, Mamta, and Sukdhev were undergoing treatment. As per the information, the victims travelling in the car were on their way towards Karnal. As they reached near Lohar Majra village, their car collided with a private bus coming from the opposite direction (from Kurukshetra to Pehowa).

After getting information, police officials reached the spot, removed the vehicles from the road, and restored the traffic. Due to the impact of the collision, the front area of the car was damaged. The police and the locals gathered to help the victims . They had tough time in retrieving the bodies.

In-charge, Jyotisar Police Post, Sandeep Kumar, who is also the investigating officer in the case, said, “Two persons died and three have suffered injuries in the head-on collision between the bus and the car. It has come to light that the bus driver tried to overtake. He steered the bus towards the other side of the road and the bus came in front of the car coming from the Pehowa side. A case has been registered against the bus driver at the Kurukshetra University police station and the matter is under investigation.”
