Official ‘quits’ over corruption; PGIMS admn refutes charges

A day after a resignation letter of a local PGIMS official went viral on social media, the institute’s administration has termed the charges levelled against the top authorities baseless.

The resignation letter of Rajesh, an official serving at the Purchase Section of the institute, was addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, and Director of PGIMS, Rohtak.

In the letter, dated July 21, 2025, the said official pointed out that he had joined his job with enthusiasm in 2019.

“However, my conscience does not allow me to serve at the institute due to the corruption prevailing here," stated the letter.

The PGIMS administration today issued an official statement, saying the said official had levelled baseless allegations against the top authorities of the institute and officials of his department in order to escape the issuance of a chargesheet against him.

“The said official was transferred to the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) on July 8. However, he did not join duty till July 15. On July 16, the Director ordered him to join duty and also ordered to issue a chargesheet against him for not joining the duty. Following that, he circulated the letter on WhatsApp groups on July 21 and rejoined duty on July 22," said the statement issued by the PGIMS administration.

The statement maintained that the said official had remained on medical leave from March 12 to 24, during which he underwent treatment at the Department of Psychiatry.

“In view of this, a medical board will be constituted to assess his condition and a show-cause notice will also be issued to him for circulating the said letter on the social media," it stated.
